Balancing The Scales Review

Title: Balancing the Scales

Author: Laura Carter

Who doesn’t love a billionaire romance, except I’m not sure he’s quite a billionaire yet. Either way, it’s pretty damn sweet.

Can the bubbly Brit tame the wild and wonderful bachelor Drew Harrington? Or will the past catch up and bite them in the ass?

A fantastic mix of fun and flirty, hot and dirty with some serious deep sections. Life is a rollercoaster, you’ve just gotto ride it. And that about sums it up! Really looking forward to seeing who else might cone up in the series – particularity Brooks!

One Shot Review

Title: One Shot

Author: BJ Harvey

Well, believe it or not, this is my first book by this author. I happen to have the great honour of meeting her at a signing next weekend. When she posted the opportunity to receive the paperback before release I thought, ooh why not! And signed up for the ARC too πŸ™ˆ

You know it’s gonna be a good one when the dedication is to one of your favourite authors; and one that you have just finished reading! And it was ☺

The prologue draws you in, the characters are relateable and the plot itself absolutely keeps you turning the pages. I stopped at chapter 8 as my kindle died, and so picked it up the following day.
Just when I thought it was all making sense and falling in to place she chucks a curve ball in there and sends it all off in another direction! Not just once either; I get it, I’m with it, following it, oh no wait, what?

It was fantastic. Nobody wants a story you get the ending to in the first 3 chapters and you certainly don’t get that here. There is great plot and character development as well as a really good back up cast. There are a few secondary characters I’m hoping we’ll get the story too ☺

Definately a recommendation from me !

On Her Guard Review

Title: On Her Guard

Author: Skyla Madi

Well I can certainly see why Skyla struggled to fit this one into a short for an anthology. That story was not going to be contained!

It’s not quite mafia, it’s not quite military, it’s just pure romance. Don’t we all want what we can’t have? That extra chunk of chocolate, the slice of cake that looks so good, the broody hunky guy you meet in a  bar?

The bar you weren’t supposed to be in, the one you lied about your age to. Well, it’s not illegal and what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him … or will it!

A fab story of falling in love; a fun flirty yet stubborn and spoilt princess who meets the brooding older man who knows what trouble that spark can bring. Amazingly relateable character’s in an out of this world situation thay draw you in and won’t let you out until the end of the story.

I’ve been in a book funk for weeks but did this book in one sitting! Definately gets a thumbs up from me 😍

Love Uncovered Review

Title: Love Uncovered

Author: Laura Barnard

This is the second book in the Brighton Babes series, read my review for book one:

1 –

What a fast, fun flirty little book. As ever, a light hearted read with a heroine so human and relateable. We’ve all done some silly things and so has and does Brooke!

She is young, free and single enjoying life and living it up. Well, that is until a mysterious man catches her eye and her heart. I loved the transformation in the characters, both individually and as a couple.

A fantastic pick you up book of love and life ❀

Broken Shelves Review

Title: Broken Shelves

Author: Anne Malcolm

This is book three of the Unquiet Minds Series, read my review for book 1 here:

1 –

This is my favourite book of this series so far!

I really liked Sam in the first book, and he certainly delivers in this one too. His cocky, arrogant, self centred bravado does nothing to hide the lost and vulnerable child underneath.

Gina has been in love with Sam since high school but when their paths cross and she gets a taste of the man he is now, she doesn’t like it. Her quiet slice of life is turned upside down when she steps up for a child in her care. When life becomes dangerous can she speed up to keep up or will she get crushed beneath it?

I loved the characters in this, the fantastic storytelling and compelling plot keep you turning the pages! There are some fantastic turns in the plot and some beautiful moments between the two of them.
Definately my fave so far x

Echoes in the Storm Review

Title: Echoes in the Storm

Author: Max Henry

This is a standalone book .

Ah Cammie and Duke are fantastic. I love her quirky irritations and his quick temper.

They are both very human, very real and normal. Such relatable characters really help to draw you into the story.

Could a battered old car and a dark dusty lane really be all that is needed to being two people together? A chance meeting and a bit of time? Like the oyster makes the pearl; you got to take the rough with the smooth.

This is a fab story that really pulls you through! Another amazing instalment from Max Henry!

Misguided Review

Title: Misguided

Author: Max Henry

This is book 5 of The Fallen Aces MC series, read my other reviews here:

1 –

What a fantastic instalment! This is just the right pace, a slight side step from the recent craziness.

What could the recently returned club princess and the resident man whore really have in common? Well, other than the obvious. Let’s be fair, after 14 months of solitary confinement he must be looking pretty amazing!

This is another great story of finding yourself and finding your place in this world. Of learning and making the most of your strengths, whatever they may be. That things can never be as bad as you think, with your family behind you.

I really loved how intuitive Dog is and:

“perfect in your imperfections”

is just the most perfect line ever! He’s hot, funny, sensitive, a bit of a bad boy and a heartbreaker. He’s got a bit of everything for everyone, one of the ‘prettier’ boys of the series.
He certainly gets a run for his money from the lost princess.  She’s turned him down once before and isn’t afraid of doing so again!

There’s heartbreak and hilarity throughout. Another great job and I am looking forward to the next instalment!

The Broken Puppet

Title: The Broken Puppet

Author: Amo Jones

This is Book two of The Elite Kings Club Series, find my review for book one here;

1 –

I’d say she must have one hell of a plot book, because where on earth do you start with THAT. But then I know she doesn’t plot Jack and just writes by the seat of her pants – wow!

I love the character development throughout the second book. Bishop is starting to come into his own as we see a little more into his psyche, still his ‘to be feared’ large and in charge self but with a little humanization here and there.

Nate, as ever, is Nate. Fun and loveable he is a fantastic second in command. We see a little of the rest of the Kings, they’re always about but mostly this book focuses on Brantley, Nate and Bishop.

Brantley is still a bit of an enigma. He is frightening and dangerous, but not in a Bishop kind of a way. Fun and flirtatious, but not in a Nate kind of a way. A force all into himself. And we find out why!

There are lots of questions answered in this book, and plenty more conjured up on the way. Honestly, for everything that’s fallen in to place something else has fallen out.

But this is a fantastically twisty turning tale and I’m looking forward to seeing where all the pieces fall at the end of the next book.

Seven ReviewΒ

Title: Seven

Author: KD Robichaux

This can be read as a standalone or following the Confessions Duet, you can find the review for these here;

1 –

Well, for anyone who has read the Confessions; this is a bit lighter.

As a woman who spends an amount of time reading in the bath, rather than watching films and tv shows, I was worried some of this was gonna go straight over my head. Luckily for me Twyla is as clueless as I am all is explained in good time!

When your sister is in an abusive relationship and the authorities won’t do anything, what is to do? You run off in the middle of the night to the middle of nowhere and hope you find a job. Obviously!

When she doesn’t quite fall on her feet, she ends up working in a job, completely out of her depths. But when the Sexy as Sin Seth Owens offers to help, how could you say no?

Fun, flirty, with the odd serious bit, this was a great little read and a definate recommendation from me 😍
