Edge of Chaos Review

Title: Edge of Chaos

Author: Molly E Lee

This is the first in the Love on the Edge series.

I love that Molly picks such unusual subjects to work with, this is not my first Molly book, meteorology … wow okay!

Well young love certainly has a lot to answer for. Molly has a fantastic way of showing us how our childhood experiences of love shape our view of ourselves, our worth and what love looks like!

We start our story with Blake and Justin as young adults, starting to make their way in life together. We go on a journey where Blake finds her passion, her dreams and ambitions and where in this big world it takes her.

There are some amazing scenes in this book and a few bits that really capture the essence for more me are below:

“I would have you realise that the woman you are deserves better than the man he is”

Don’t we all want a man that can see and value our true worth as a person? Not just as a wife or a mother or a friend?

“True love is friendship set on fire.”

It most definitely is! It’s safe to say my husband is my best friend, he’s the man I rang and screamed at when one of my fave authors announced at my first signing, he’s the man who held me when I lost my father. He’s the one who is there in the morning and the evening and all the time in between if I need him.

I  am a lucky one, one that found this type of love in my life and it’s fantastic to see how clearly that journey can be depicted.

That being said, I know a lot more about clouds now! I loved the storm chasing scenes! How something so terrifying and destructive can also be beautiful and captivating. As well as the parallels it drew with her life, often tumultuous and sometimes leaving complete devastation.

A fantastic read!

Blurb

Blake Caster has been in an emotionally abusive relationship with Justin for so long, she can’t tell what is normal anymore, and so she clings to the one thing that is solidly hers—her passion for extreme weather.

Three years into her Meteorology degree, Blake meets professional storm chaser, Dash Lexington, who is as gorgeous as he is daring. Instantly recognizing her passion and skills in analyzing weather data, he makes a spot for her on his tight-knit storm chasing team. Dash and Blake form a fast friendship and it forces her to realize just how toxic her relationship with Justin is. She can’t deny the lightning-worthy chemistry she has with Dash or how her heart stalls every time he gets too close to a tornado.

With each chase and the cherished moments with Dash, Blake discovers her own self-worth and gains the strength to end things with Justin for good. But he won’t go easily. As Blake tries to sever ties with one man, she fears she’ll lose the other to his dangerous obsession—and she doesn’t know if she’ll be enough to save him from the impending storm that could end them all.

The Devil’s Highway Review

Title: The Devil’s Highway

Author: Golden Czermak

What a way to start! straight into the action !

And it doesn’t stop there! There is seriously so much jam packed in this book it’s a surprise that it flows so well! Absolutely action packed and in the inimitable style of Golden Czermak we could be watching a Tolkien film.

With demons, werewolves, shifters and any number of other fantastical beasts from myth and fiction we are taken through this and other world’s with graceful prose. There are twists and turns a plenty keeping you gripped to the book and your seat!

This is not just an action story though and you are drawn into the relationships too. Poor Joey has had a hard time in some of the other books and it’s unfortunately not getting better soon for him. The emotional onslaught throughout is immense and once again left me desperately waiting for the next installment.

Looking forward to reading what comes next !

Darkness Within Review

Title: Darkness Within

Author: Isabel Lucero

Okay so you know I’ve talked about this book too much when your phone automatically completes the title and author for you haha

I have to admit that this was my first Isabel Lucero book, I have others downloaded waiting to be reading but this story is my first. It’s safe to say it won’t be my last!

I started it this morning … somewhere around 6.30am and I’d finished by 5pm. I’ve literally read this all day, my poor kids have had a rubbish day I’ve been so distracted in this amazing story!

Donovan .. oh Donovan. I love the story being told from his perspective. Is he the bad guy? Is he the good guy? Okay, so he’s clearly not the good guy but he’s not really that bad – is he?

Okay maybe he is, I still love him! I love the way Isabel has carefully hidden clues throughout the book and ties them all beautifully in the end. I could never have even guessed where this was going to end up and it’s done spectacularly.

I can’t say too much because I don’t want to give the game away but he is hot, he is messed up and we get a sneaky peek into his mind.

I am not a massive fan of standalone books, I much prefer a series that I can sink into. That being said this was done so spectacularly I’ll definitely be reading more!

There is enough depth to the characters that you can comfortably journey with them and feel their emotional turmoil. Trust me, with a character like Donovan that’s an eye opener! And without the baggage of lining up for the next book and lots of subtext links this is a really clean read!

Incase you can’t tell, I really liked it and everyone should read it! A massive well done to the lovely Isabel Lucero x

The moment it happens, everything in me changes.

Imagine somebody was able to fit inside of your body. Their arms are the same length as yours. You’re both the same height. Everything is exactly the same. Now imagine that person not being a person at all. That thing inside of you is a shadow. Darkness. A silhouette of you, only living on the inside of your body. It doesn’t have a conscious. It doesn’t have a heart. Nothing within that darkness is remotely human. Its only goal is to take over your body. It fights against your muscles. It tries breaking through the skin. It wants to replace you. That’s what it feels like when the darkness that lives inside me starts trying to get out.

I feel it happening. The pressure builds. My skin prickles. And the only thing that tames it, getting it back to resting peacefully inside me, is to unleash it. I have to let it wreak havoc, and I quite enjoy the mayhem.

Analeigh Price comes into my life and does the one thing I hate; question me about my past. She can pretend she wants to get to know me all she wants, but she’s not ready for the truth. I won’t become a better person for her, because I am who I am. She can’t fix me, because my wounds are unfixable.

You see, I’m not like everybody else. Oh, no. I’m different. My humanity was stripped from me long ago, and those who are responsible are about to be paid a visit. You’ve never heard a story like mine, because I’m unlike anyone you’ve ever met. I’m no hero. I’m the guy you don’t want to piss off, because once the darkness within me is unleashed, it’ll be too late to get away.

What’s my name? It’s Donovan. Donovan James. But the darkness is taking over, and it’s only good at one thing, so I must go.

Heart Recaptured Review

Title: Heart Recaptured

Author: Tillie Cole

This is book two in the Hades Hangmen series, read the review for book one:

1 – It ain’t me, babe Review

What an absolute roller coaster of emotion !

I was a bit concerned that this was just going to be a copy of book 1. Well, no concern there!

Lilah is a completely different person to Mae. She didn’t want to leave the commute, cast out by her family at only 6 years old she truly believes her beauty is her curse.

When Ky is told to help her adjust to the outside world he is eager and yet cautious. He knows she is beautiful, but he also knows she is well into her faith and she doesn’t understand where she is and what is expected of her. He goes through women like they are underwear, which he incidentally doesn’t always wear, until he gets lost in her.

His harrowing past brings them together, only for them to be torn apart again. Her inability to adapt, his poor ability to explain his feelings and their strict alternative lifestyles clash to make one hell of a ride!

There are some exquisitely beautiful moments in this book ! Tillie really knows how to capture emotion and gently lead you through complex plot lines and touchy subjects. Another fantastic read!

Blurb

Even salvation can be delivered through the love of the damned…

Beauty can be a curse.

Faith can be a cage.

Only love can set you free.

A few long weeks after being reluctantly ripped from the comforting embrace of her sacred prophet’s religious commune—the only life she has ever known—a terrified Delilah is thrust into a world enveloped by evil and swimming in sin.

Steadfastly devout in her faith, and retaining the deep belief that her soul is innately tarnished as a branded ‘Cursed woman of Eve’, Delilah is determined to find her way home to her people in The Order and away from the corrupt and damned outlaw motorcycle club—The Hades Hangmen—who hold her at their secluded compound for her protection—a ‘protection’ she strongly resents.

Delilah yearns to return home, convinced that only amongst her own people, and under the holy guidance of the Lord’s revealed prophet, can her Satan-spawned soul be truly saved. Conditioned her entire life to believe she is a witch… a life-long temptress… the devil’s whore… Delilah increasingly resents her beautiful face, her shapely body and her sensuous effect on men. But when a man of the motorcycle club—a deeply sinful yet stunningly beautiful man—is charged with her care, Delilah begins to see that this dangerous and moralless sinner from the ‘outside’ may offer her something she did not know could truly exist: unconditional love.

Kyler ‘Ky’ Willis loves his life: a daily abundance of brotherhood, liquor, the freedom of the open-road and—best of all—his pick of hot women. Raised a biker brat and now VP of the most notorious MC in the States, Ky has no shortage of club sluts warming his bed; a situation he takes full advantage of… until a certain blonde enters his life… a gorgeous pilgrim-blonde he can’t get out of his head… a pilgrim-blonde he and his club recently-rescued from some backward religious cult… and a pilgrim-blonde he’s been ordered to keep the hell away from and his whorish hands off.

When yet another in a lengthy line of drunken blunders forces Ky to reluctantly take charge of the pilgrim-blonde’s care, he realizes that there could be more to this woman than just supermodel looks and a stacked set of tits. He begins to see that she could be the woman who could do the impossible—tame his wild ways and capture his reluctant heart.

But the unyielding bonds of Lilah’s past are strong, her ‘people’ determined and, with a new Prophet in charge and hell bent on revenge, they are mightily reluctant to let her go…

It ain’t me, babe Review

Title: It ain’t me, babe

Author: Tillie Cole

This is book one of the Hades Hangmen series.

How can one chance meeting set the course of your life? Hard to say really. But it does.

A young girl; confused, alone and hurting. A young boy; singled out, isolated in a hard life. One moment that changed them both and set things into motion for the rest of their lives.

What can I say about this book? Well, it has all the feels! this will literally take you through every emotion you have and put it through the wringer. I was so angry for Mae, angry at the treatment she endured, angry at the misunderstood ignorance, angry that people think they can just close their eyes and ignore things like this. Heartbroken at her loss, so much loss. Not only physical loss but that of her faith, the confusion of finding out who she is and what she truly believes to be right.

Styx … OMG Styx! The broken boy, who had to be twice as cruel to maintain his place within the lifestyle he was born into. That boy is still locked inside this hard uncaring man that we meet. And boy do you know when he comes out! He is fierce! Fiercely loyal, Fiercely protective and passionate!

I love the twists and turns in the story and the big finale is amazing! There are enough secondary characters to inform and give plenty of scope for more books in the series without overwhelming the flow.

Looking forward to seeing what is next!

Blurb

Sinning never felt so good…

A fortuitous encounter.

A meeting that should never have happened.

Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever…

Salome knows only one way to live—under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence—the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.

Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.

River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life—he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six—much to his rivals’ delight.

Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.

Styx has one rule in life—never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot… a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go…

FBBF17

Well I thought that I better get myself organised and get some books together ready to read and review before FBBF17, you know, now I got VIP tickets and everything!!

What can I say? I’m still a little excited about that haha

So I have had a go through my kindle and work out what I have got from each of the authors; what I have read, reviewed and is to be read. And it turns out … I’ve got quite a bit! In face, I have at least one book for all bar about half a dozen of the authors, which is fairly good going if I do say so myself!

I was working on only getting really into a few of the authors, I we have 2 hours in the signing room and there are 42 authors I was to see, that literally gives me like 2 minutes per author and that is rubbish! I wanted to stick to fewer authors that I love and get to spend a bit of time with each one, pictures and signing and stuff exciting stuff!

I have read all of River Savages books before the announcement so that’s done that definitely  has to be on the MUST SEE list. I have read and fallen in love with the stuff by Amo Jones, so she has to go on the list too. Also Will Greer, bless his soul, let me do a BETA read for him recently, and one of his characters in another series is called Dominic .. he’s on the list too!

I loved Depths of Salvation by Molly E Lee and am looking forward to reading Collecting the Pieces by LA Fiore. Oh and  Laura Barnard sent me Adventurous Proposal … well she has to be on the list because that is some funny stuff!

I can see as time goes on and I read more of these books that I am going to want to see everyone … and spend loads of time with everyone … and its probably not going to happen 😦 but lets just see how we get on eh!

Ill come back and update this list every now and again when I’ve read and reviewed some of the authors x

Adventurous Proposal Review

Title: Adventurous Proposal

Author: Laura Barnard

This is a standalone novel

What a fun read this was! It’s been a while since a book literally made me laugh out loud but this one did it!

It’s like Bridget Jones but in a book. The characters and enjoyable to read with just enough flaws to make them human. Flo is do every girl I know that it is super easy read and enjoy along with.

Who wouldn’t love to be proposed to after the first non date? what a fun idea to get to know each other along the way! It’s lucky, I guess, that we are safe in book world where there are no bad people and it all ends up beautifully tied up!

I really enjoyed this and flew through it in one evening. This is definitely a girls night in, in a book!

After a string of bad dates, Florence Gray is so over online dating. So much so, that if she has to survive another guy standing her up she might just do something crazy … like accept the first proposal she gets.

So when she finds herself alone in the bar, again, Florence can hardly believe her eyes-or ears-when Hugh Humphreys swoops in and presents her with an proposal so adventurous she can’t believe she’s actually considering saying yes.

Because, after all, twenty five days to plan a wedding is some feat and that’s while getting to know your fiancée, their disapproving Mother and dealing with a jealous ex. Throw in the small matter of where they should live and you have Florence wondering what the hell she’s gotten herself into.

Can you really countdown to a wedding like an advent calendar? Fall in love with a stranger and make them your husband? Because if she’s going to make it down the aisle Christmas morning, Florence has to find out and fast.

This week

Okay so it’s been quite a week!

I have done my first ever Beta read, which was for WS Greer. It was great, it took longer than a normal review would, but it was great and the feedback I gave was helpful !

I have also managed to bag myself two VIP tickets for FBBF 17 for my husband and I and am over the moon we’ll be able to attend. Another reader has posted up a link with all free or 99p books from attending authors so I’ve been through and down loaded those. I will do an updated list  of authors and their books over the next few days.

I have also been in touch with some of the other bloggers on FBBF and am working on an author blog tour. So each week between here and the event one of the blogs hosts one of the authors , gives author info, books links and a giveaway. Seemed like a good way to increase traffic for the authors and the blogs and could between fun too 😊

I’ll do an updated list on the books I have to read and have read soon!

Hellraiser Review

Title: Hellraiser

Author: Amo Jones

This is book two in the Devil’s Own MC series, read the review for book one:

1 – One Hundred and Thirty Six Scars Review

I didn’t even stop to take notes through this but completely devoured the lot in one day. What a fantastic story and a great lead into the next book!

Melissa is a lot like Vicky (from Intricate Love), she is fun filled, she takes no sh!t, she is loving living life. But it hasn’t always been this way, this happiness is hard fought for and she’s not willing to let go easily.

Hella or 112 as he’s been known has a seriously mixed up past. He is messed up in a big way and he’s unlikely to ever settle with one woman. That issue until he meets Melissa. For some reason his crazy and her crazy just rub each other the wrong way, but who wants easy in this life?

There was such a massive build up to this relationship, all through the first book and then plenty of setting the scene in this one too. I love how all it took was an inch of trust, not in each other but in fate and the rest is history.

Man, does Hella ever love hard! I mean there is no great surprise in the amazing sex scenes, he’s a man whore after all, but he really knows how to lay it all out. No ifs, no buts, no flowery wording, he just tells it how it is. And it’s beautiful!

I’m really looking forward to Jada’s story aadded seeing what comes next. Another fabulous job from Amo Jones!

Melissa
They say there are defining points in your life – moments where you f**ked it all up, moments that make you its bitch, moments that shape you into the person you are/
The day I met Braxton Ward was one of my moments.
My name is Melissa Hart, and I don’t think you’re ready for this story.

Hella
I go by a few names; Hella, Brax, 11, or, depending on whether I’ve been balls deep in you or not, C*nt. I don’t push the boundaries because in order to do so, one must have them. I’ve never had them. Being homeless at the not-so-tender age of fifteen morphed me into an emotionless shell, and when The Army recruited me, that shell turned into steel.
They say if fire is hot enough, it can melt steel; the hate that burns between Melissa Hart and me just might be hot enough.
Shit doesn’t come easy for us. Enemies are expanded, secrets are revealed, and live will be taken. Yeah, I’m Braxton “Hella” Ward, and you bet your f*cking ass that you ain’t ready for this story.
