Dirty Dom Review

Title: Dirty Dom
Author: Willow Winters

This is book 1 in the Valetti Crime Family series

I really enjoyed this book. It was a great introduction to the family, how they interact and the world they live in.

Dom is a hard, dominant man. He lives on the wrong side of the law and makes no apologies for it. He doesn’t give second chances and he doesn’t take any sh*t, you get one chance and that is your lot. Until, he meets her! Suddenly our controlling, use em and lose em man is chasing a woman!

Becca is the soft to Dom’s hard. Thrust unknowingly into this world, she will have to sink or swim and use everything she has to her advantage. When through her interactions with Dom she becomes a target she shows an enviable inner strength.

There is a great chemistry between this couple, one that keeps you coming back for more. There is plenty of action throughout the story. A great, easy read leading you through into the next story.

These are dubbed stand alone books but are definitely better read in order 🙂

Dominic Valetti is only interested in two things: getting paid and getting laid.

He’s a bookie for the Valetti crime family, and he knows his sh*t. Dom’s busy doing business, no time to dabble in social niceties. The women that chase after him wanting more than a dirty, hard f*ck are only gonna get their hearts broken.

That is, until Becca stumbles into his office to pay off her ex’s debt. A hot brunette who’s just as guarded as he is and has a body made for sin… and for him. They’re not meant to be together. A woman like her shouldn’t be with a man like him. He’s mobbed up; she’s a good girl who deserves better.

When they push their boundaries and cave to temptation, they both forget about the danger. And that’s a mistake a man like Dom can’t afford. Will Dirty Dom risk it all to keep Becca safe, or will he live up to his name?

This is book 3 in the Valetti Crime Family series. Read the reviews for Book 1 and 2:
1 – Dirty Dom Review
2 – His Hostage Review

This is one of the books posted in my daily deals on the Facebook page, I liked the cover, thought the blurb looked okay and thought I would give it a go! It was completely worth it and even better at only 99p!

We all love a bad boy. And Kane is a bad boy! I love that there are no apologies in this book. He is not bad and trying to be good. He’s not bad but wants to change his ways. He is who he is, and he is comfortable with that. A lot of the authors I have read previously have tamed their men but Kane is raw and trying to make the best out of a bad situation.

We meet Ava broken and frightened, but that certainly isn’t who she really is. There is a layer of tough in that girl, not just to take the easy way but to stick it out for the best way. I really enjoyed being able to view this from her perspective and the duality of the situation, she views it one way but has been trained to view it differently. She goes through the wringer in this book and her emotional process is harrowing. There is enough detail for us to understand what she is going through without tearing us apart to put us back together again as readers which is often a difficult medium to get.

This really was a great story with plenty of action going on, twists and turns and a fabulous ending! A great stand alone book as well as part of a wider collection of work. I didn’t need to have read any of the other books to appreciate this one and certainly have a few more that I can read now too!

EDITED – I have now read the first two books in this series and have included their reviews above. This book makes a whole load more sense now that I have read the previous books so although it is promoted as a standalone piece it is definitely better once you understand the people he is working with.

This book primarily focusses on Kane and Ava, the other books have been Dom and Vince, so you don’t NEED to have read them, but it certainly helps to put everyone in place and knowing Vince and Dom better now I can completely see why he does the things he does in this book! Looking forward to seeing what comes next!

I’m not a good man, but I’m damn good at what I do.

I was raised to be ruthless, and as muscle for the Petrov mafia, that’s all I am.

Then she got caught in the crossfire, and when it was over, she was mine – given as a temporary gift. Once a mafia princess, now just a bargaining chip, she wasn’t a part of my plans.

She’s scared, alone, and has the most perfect, innocent baby blues that beg me to protect her.

There’s not an ounce of good in me. I don’t deserve her, but I want her. I want her sweet submission and tempting curves, at any cost.

Even if I have to kill every f*cker who stands between us.

This good girl belongs to me.

This is Book 3 in the Portland Street Kings series
Book 1 Review – Collision Review
Book 2 Review – Fatal Review

I always hate reading a book when I know that I am going to have to wait for the next one. I try to drag the book out and read it in little bits aiming to extend it as long as possible. This book was no exception!

I wasn’t really sure about Della’s story. I was worried about how she could possibly overcome everything she has been through but remain true to herself and her family. There is some serious self reflection and deep emotional turmoil in this book., it is well thought out and really cleverly put together.

Our strong, warrior woman. She has been looked after by her big brothers for all these years but now she has to stand on her own two feet. She has come through hell and out the other side, time and time again. Her trust has been broken, her innocence stolen and her heart trampled, repeatedly and yet she still has the power to keep going. She is back in danger, again!

The man who has, most recently, broken her heart is out to protect her, to save her from herself as well as from danger. Dom made a mistake, okay he made a few mistakes but he is here to make amends and repair what has been damaged.

This is an action packed, emotionally raw, rollercoaster of a ride that I couldn’t slow down even if I wanted to. The only disappointment is having to wait for the next book!

“I had trusted him. I had loved him…”

Dom was the mysterious bad boy all my brothers warned me to stay away from. Even so, when I looked into his eyes, I saw someone I had to know. A man, who with a single touch, sparked a desire deep inside me.

I was wrong to trust. Mistaken to hope.

Brokenhearted
Betrayed
And on the run…

Dom Haynes, a man determined to protect that which he ruined. He thinks he can save us…he can’t. I’d given Dom my heart, and I don’t want it back, for fear of feeling, it’s broken insides.

I’m Della King, little sister to the infamous Portland Street Kings. However, I’m not the same woman I used to be. Nightmares I thought I’d controlled we’re once again taking hold.

Doms intentions are clear. He wants a second chance. Hate him or love him, he isn’t going anywhere.

He’ll ride with me.
Fight with me.
Love me.

Oookay, so where to start with this one? In Book 1 we met Piper … she was trying to right the wrongs that had been done to her, she was trying to make the world a better place for the next generation. We have all been beaten down by situation and picked ourselves back up again, we can relate.

In this book we meet Lana. Lana has been pulled down by her own family! By the person who is supposed to be there to love, cherish and build her up. We haven’t all been here, but you certainly get a good feel for it in this book. The emotional content is impressive! Such a way with words, knowing just how to draw you in and where the line is between enough and too much information.

What a way to start! It had me on edge all the way through, was it a nightmare? Was it a flashback? That can’t really be how it ends? What happened to get to that! This is an emotional rollercoaster of a book, with twists and turns like no other. How on earth so much story content managed to get in here along with everything going on between Mackson and Lana I have no idea.

I have to say Lana is a fabulous character, I love the development from the snippets we have seen in the previous book to the woman we see here. We follow her from childhood through to adulthood and all the twists and turns along the way. We get to see the Kings from an outside perspective and see a little into their illegal empire.

I am sure there is going to be so much more in the next book and I can’t wait to dive in!

Blurb

Mackson King’s past is a dark, horror-filled chasm that could swallow the toughest, most dangerous men. A member of the notorious Portland Street Kings, he’s impossible to intimidate—but he can be hurt. He learned that the hard way, thanks to her. Lana. The one woman capable of easing his nightmares, of soothing his demons, was the very woman who shredded his heart. She took away his torments, only to become one of them.

Born into a family who lost their way long before she arrived, Lana Scavello has carefully enforced a steely interior that shields her heart from harm. But that doesn’t mean she can’t cry, and she’s spared Mackson King more tears than he ever deserved. Finding Lana at her most vulnerable, saving her when she felt the most invisible, he burrowed beneath her defenses to carve his own personal door to her soul. Only to decimate it, along with everything she’d ever known.

Now, years later, fate has thrown the couple together once more. Pain, heartbreak and betrayal will explode to the surface, leaving both of them raw, aching, exposed. And that’s when their true love story begins…

This is Book 1 in the Portland Street Kings Series.

Well, this came up as recommended reading on Amazon and I’m always a bit dubious about whether they are going to be any good or not. On this occasion Amazon did great!

We start off in the past, there is enough information to get a taste of what went on in this childhood home without giving too much away, which is quite a skill and we come back to this at a later date.

So, you go out for a drink with friends, some numpty starts giving you grief and then a knight in shining armour comes to rescue you. Who wouldn’t think this is going to be a fabulous story? We have all wanted to have the confidence to give that knight a personal thank you, but as a one off our lovely leading lady does! A woman willing to take what she wants and get out while she still can. But can she?

Slater King came through Hell to get where he is. Dragged up through the dirt and the grit along with his brothers and sister, he has carved a safe area out for himself and his family. How long can that safety really survive in his world?

Its an interesting introduction to their world and I’m looking forward to seeing how this develops over the subsequent books. What a fabulous Alpha Slater is, I love his demanding ways! He loves fiercely and protects mercilessly – once you are within his circle. Such great twists and turns through this book and heading straight into book 2 – Fatal!!

Collision Blurb

When I was fourteen years old, I killed for the first time. That day I learned cruelty wasn’t only within the walls we had just escaped.

It hasn’t been easy growing up in the middle of a war. A struggle to find shelter. Fighting to protect our bodies against the corruption of the streets. Nobody cared about the street kids who had to beg and steal to eat.

Now we are the Portland Street Kings – A family forged through loyalty not blood. To get through this life of broken dreams alive, we’ve become hard, uncaring and merciless. We do what must be done to keep our family safe, we will harm those who stand against us.

We have it all, feared and respected by those on the streets. Then she collided into my world, and with her came demons from my past, back to haunt us all.

How this works

Right, I’ve had a bit of a think about how this works!

I’m going to keep on with the blog here for reviews and information for me and stuff but it doesn’t really work duplicating everything on the Facebook page.

So I have set up an email address just for the blog – thinkingaboutbooks@hotmail.com and am going to link lots of fabulous author pages in there and get some daily deals set up to share on the Facebook page and try and get some traffic through there. I am going to continue on with reading loads of books, which is what I set this up for, and getting the reviews up on here. I will then share the reviews on the Facebook page.

Reviews and Information (Cover reveals, promotional blitz etc) will be available on here
Daily Deals, Information and Giveaways will be available on the Facebook Page

Lets give this a go and see how we get on 🙂

Where I am now

Well, I have read a couple of books this week.

My 3 year old is currently being a complete nightmare and so I have found a book to try and help with that, so the first job for this week is unfortunately not a fun book but a parenting one :/

I will be reading Raising Your Spirited Child, along with my weekly Ashton episode and maybe some 21 Shades of Night if I get chance X

This is Book 15 in the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series

Okay so there has been a bit of a break since I read the last book in this series, there has also been a little spin off in between with a book for the Black Dagger Legacy Series, but I really missed these characters.

I had forgotten how completely captivating this world is and how much I love these characters. It is amazing how ‘normal’ each character seems, you know despite being not human and about as far from ‘normal’ as you could possibly qualify. They are all individual and you can completely read them as individuals. I feel like I know them now too. So when I read that this was going to be Rhage’s story I was really excited!

I completely didn’t see that coming though. What a way to start a book, there’s no holding back and no hiding behind the covers for this one! Straight in and on the point, this is action from the beginning, right through to the end. Not only do we see what is going on with Rhage, but a check in with some of the other couples; V, Layla and what is happening with the Band of Bastards.

I love Rhage! We see the playboy in his first book, so so long ago, falling in love and changing his ways, but what a way he has come. This has some serious teary moments in, for someone not massively emotional, that is saying something! The emotion in here is intense in places and it draws you into the story, into the hearts and minds of our characters.

Another amazing story from J R Ward that has got me wanting to go back to the beginning and read them all again. Really looking forward to seeing where this is going to go next!

And that terrifies him – as well as distances him from his mate.
