Wicked Charming Review

Title: Wicked Charming
Author: Nazarea Andrews

I haven’t read anything by Nazarea before so was looking forward to a few snippet sized books I could plough through.

This is a novella so a great starting point. It felt a little like this was a spin off or part of a bigger series? Like I should already know the characters. There was no introduction to who they are, how they look etc more like a revision of previous info, which would make sense if it’s part of a bigger collection of work.

The story is good, once you figure out who everyone is, fast paced and keeps you guessing. There was great chemistry between the characters and a fab alternative cinderella type story.

I felt like there should have been more explanation as we went through and there were a few unfinished parts that will hopefully be cleared up in the next book.

I like the idea of ruling in their sex dungeon and that not all the men are dominant. There was a good mix of primary and secondary characters and I’m looking forward to seeing how they develop over the mini series.

There are some super hot sex scenes, as to be expected, and plenty of things to keep you guessing. This could have easily have been made in to a full length book but I like the quick style nature of this story, looking forward to the next installment.

Long Live The King Review

Title: Long Live the King
Author: WS Greer

This is the second in a duet series, read the review for book one here:

1 – Kingpin Review

I really loved Dominic and Alannah in Kingpin and they are just as good in this book. The writing is smooth, the story compelling.

We rejoin Alannah at work where rumours of her relationship with Dominic are affecting her work environment. When her boss calls her out as a trophy mob wife she does the only thing she can, stands up for him. What will happen when she has no anchor in her life but Dominic? Is he really the stable rock she needs?

Dominic is the youngest Kingpin there has ever been. It’s been noted, and it’s not necessarily welcomed. When a plot by his own men goes terribly wrong and they are backed into a corner how will they escape?

There are twists and turns in this book, it’s fast paced but easy to follow. Dominic is true to himself and still not one to be messed with. Alannah is still as in love with him as she always was, she’s always most as fierce as he is and that’s something to be reckoned with!

I really enjoyed that while Dominic is clearly an alpha male and everyone knows it, he’s not an ass. He’s loyal and true to both his family and Alannah.

Another great read from WS Greer!

Alannah Sullivan may not have many friends, but when you’re lucky enough to spend your life with your soulmate, you feel untouchable. When the love of your life is the most powerful man in the city, you roll with the punches and proudly stand by his side.

ALL IT TAKES IS BETRAYAL FOR IT ALL TO COME CRASHING DOWN AROUND YOU…
There’s a traitor in The Family. Someone who knows everything. Someone who’s sabotaging business and bringing heat to Dominic that can only end in his fall from power. And everyone knows there’s only one way for a mob boss’ reign to end.

ALL IT TAKES IS A MOB KING WHO’S WILLING TO DIE TO PROTECT HIS QUEEN…
Dominic would never let anything happen to Alannah, no matter how dangerous things become, or how guilty everyone around him looks. Blood Vow Review

Title: Blood Vow
Author: JR Ward

This is the second book in the Black Dagger Legacy, but follows after/alongside the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Rhage, ah Rhage. I love Rhage and Mary. They have been through so much to get where they are. Cancer, cursed, death, immortality and infertility and they have faced it all together with unwavering certainty.

Rhage is certainly the most concrete example of a bonded male, he really would do anything for his female. Mary is almost in the background in a lot of ways, she is gentle, unassuming and humble. She is the homemaker of the group, there for everyone and asks for nothing in return. But boy are they put through the wringer once again.

I really loved Lassiter in this one too, he’s definately growing on me lol and a fabulous way to end the story!

This is also the story of Axe and Elise. The top and the bottom classes, their upbringings couldn’t have been more different if they tried. Does coming from different parts of the system mean that you are too different for love? Would it make any difference to a bond?

There are some fantastic moments with both couples, new love learning it’s way, established love being tested. The strong men of the Black Dagger Brotherhood and their trainees against the world. Taking down lessers and tackling social norms, all in a days work!

Isn’t it wonderful not to have to be perfect to be loved?

Well yes it is, we are human although they are not, they still are not perfect, they are flawed and have human emotions. Don’t we all wish to be loved and accepted as we are. Is that our right? How do we find that? Will we know when we have?

There are some beautiful descriptions in this story:

A little like falling in love: a revelation that made everything more beautiful, more precious

We have all lost something, whether that is a lover, a friend or a family member, lots of people have experienced loss. Loss that clarifies and consolidates love, the ying and yang. Without one there can not be the other.

This is another beautifully written book, the storytelling is fantastic and the description is amazing. Looking forward to the next installment!

Park Avenue Prince Review

Title: Park Avenue Prince
Author: Louise Bay

What a complete change. This is not at all what I’ve been reading recently and it was so refreshing to read something with such a positive heroine.

Grace Astor has had a privileged life, but when she decided to open her own gallery she did it on her own finances and sacrifices had to be made.

Sam Shaw however didn’t have the best teen years and as a newly self made millionaire he finds himself searching for art. When he meets Grace Astor, it’s not the art he’s interested in any more.

I really loved Grace’s positivity, when things were looking bad she always found the strength to keep her chin up and keep moving. With enough positivity she even manages to pull friends and family back up too.

Sam is damaged and complex, hard and unforgiving. He’s a perfect counterpart to Grace’s upbeat demeanor. They really work! A fabulous story that was really easy to read, fun and engaging. Looking forward to reading more by Louise Bay!

I’ve made every one of my billions of dollars myself—I’m calculating, astute and the best at what I do. It takes drive and dedication to build what I have. And it leaves no time for love or girlfriends or relationships.

But don’t get me wrong, I’m not a monk.

I understand the attention and focus it takes to seduce a beautiful woman. They’re the same skills I use to close business deals.
But one night is where it begins and ends. I’m not the guy who sends flowers. I’m not the guy who calls the next day.

Or so I thought before an impatient, smart-talking, beyond beautiful heiress bursts into my world.

When Grace Astor rolls her eyes at me—I want to hold her against me and show her what she’s been missing.

When she makes a joke at my expense—I want to silence her sassy mouth with my tongue.

And when she leaves straight after we f*ck with barely a goodbye—it makes me want to pin her down and remind her of the three orgasms she just had.

She might be a princess but I’m going to show her who rules in this Park Avenue bedroom.

A sexy, standalone, contemporary romance.

Edge of Recovery Review

Title: Edge of Recovery
Author: Molly E Lee

This is the fifth book in the Love on the Edge series but the third book with the same set of characters, they should be read:

1 – Edge of Chaos Review
2 – Edge of Bliss Review

I absolutely loved the other books in this series but wasn’t expecting this to be Justin’s story, I went in blind without reading the blurb .. as per usual. I wasn’t sure where this was going to go and at what point we were joining in the story so I have to say I started off a bit nervous!

There was absolutely nothing to be nervous about, what a fantastic story! I literally read this in one day, absolutely flew through it. The story flows beautifully, the characters are flawed and fantastic. This is an amazing story of finding yourself and your inner strength, how it is never too late to change your life but the only person that can do that is you.

Addiction is so hard and there are so many people that lose the battle every year, this is a subject that touches me personally, as I’m sure it does many. And I guess that is where my initial hesitation came from, there are so many that don’t win this battle, how hard will it be to read that and process those emotions and internal struggle as a reader.

It is beautifully, delicately written, just enough that we know what he is going through without drowning in his sorrow but elating in his joy. This was an absolute joy to read and I will definitely be recommending to many people!

I thought second chances only happened to good, decent people.
Not the broken and damaged monsters like me.
But it did.
And I can’t control it.
But I need to.
Charlie is my sponsor, the one person I’m not supposed to touch, but my heart has locked on to her and is finally beating after years of barely moving.
I’m in over my head in more ways than one, and as I try to be the man she sees behind the monster, I only sink deeper, two sides of myself battling for clarity. The one that dares to hope, and the one that already knows I’ll lose everything.
I’m terrified my jagged past will slice her to ribbons but as my sponsor she’s obligated to dig up all the broken pieces and try to put them back together.
I don’t know what scares me more, who she’ll find when she’s done, or how far she’ll run once she realizes the truth.

Devil’s Vengeance Review

Title: Devil’s Vengeance
Author: Nina Levine

This is book three is the Sydney Storm MC series, see my other reviews:

1 – Relent Review
2 –Nitro’s Torment Review

I pre ordered this so I had it as soon as it came out! Unfortunately I’ve been that busy I’ve not had chance to read it 😮 until now!

Well, I love Nina’s writing style; it’s simplistic and compelling. Before I even realised, I was at 60% in and things were really hotting up!
Devil is unsurprisingly super hot  ( like all the Storm men! ) and he clearly has issues he’s not dealt with well in the past. Hailee is fun and care free but with her own history. They make a great combination. She is sassy and he is bossy, not so much that they clash heads but enough that she isn’t just going to roll over for him.

I loved that he didn’t fix anything for her. So often in stories when something bad happens our hero comes in and sweeps her off her feet and fixes everything up. Not so with Devil and Hailee. That was one of my favourite things – that he believes in her and trusts in her, knowing that she can and will pick herself up. He’s still there to support her and love her but it’s not over bearing.

“If there’s one thing I’ve learnt in my thirty years, it’s that perfection doesn’t exist. Everyone’s story is filled with imperfection. And who am I to judge yours?”

Well isn’t that just the truth! They are down to earth, normal people .. just about. Making their way in life as best they can. This story is so easy to read, you are right along with the characters and there are even a few phrases thrown in there I use myself 😊

There are some great scenes with King and Nitro lining plenty of excitement up for the next few books- which I also can’t wait for!

As if we expect anything less from this amazing series by Nina Levine x

Blurb

I know she’s forbidden.
I’ve been warned.
But I’m in too deep.

Hailee Archer was mine the minute I met her and there’s no way in hell I’m giving her up.

Our club is at war, though, and her brother is our greatest ally.
He’s made it clear he doesn’t want me anywhere near her.
He’s threatened to walk away from our club if he doesn’t get what he wants.

What he doesn’t know about me is that I’m a stubborn bastard.
I will fucking fight to the bitter end for my family.
He wants to threaten me?
He can go right the fuck ahead.
He doesn’t stand a chance

A nice story about falling in love and getting over your own hang ups.

A chance meeting has Daniel and Avery falling head over heels instantly. They fall in love and live happily ever after. Definately a cutesy story!

Not my cup of tea but the writing is good and the story is well paced.

Before the Lie Review

Title: Before the Lie
Author: Kayla Greenwood-Robichaux

Oh what a beautiful story!

I loved the prequel – it’s really gripping and drags you straight in to the story. You’re then taken on a much gentler journey with the adorable Vivian and amazing Corbin.

They couldn’t be much more different if they tried. She is innocent, niave and introverted. He is quiet, calm and deadly. Her naturally submissive side is drawn to the quiet dominance that surrounds him and his unspoken ability to keep her safe and protected from this frightening world.

This is a beautiful story of falling in love, something we don’t all have the luxury of. Of comfortable nights out, time spent getting to know each other, the simple pleasure of holding hands while you walk. The things you forget are important when you’re older and your life is busy.  This story really brought to the fore that love doesn’t have to be about lust, of course that’s a part, but it’s only a part and not the whole.

Corbin and Vi have both struggled with things to date and I liked how they seemed to soothe and compliment each other, despite the differences.

The characters are fun and relate able while still being engaging. The story is beautiful written and leaves you dying for the next book – for which I have to wait 😣

This is my first book by Kayla but it won’t be my last. I loved it!
